Bar Harbor / Acadia National Park

Acadia National Park is located on Mount Desert Island and other smaller islands of the GREAT ATLANTIC COAST of Maine. It includes mountains, ocean shoreline, woodlands and lakes. You can see gray squirrels, chipmunks, white-tailed deer, moose, beaver, porcupine, muskrats, foxes, coyotes and black bears here for mammals. Be sure to look for the many kinds of birds especially the bald eagle that is the national bird of the United States of America.

Things to do at Acadia National Park: bicycling, birdwatching, boating, climbing, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, leaf peeping, picnicking, scenic driving, swimming, tide-pooling, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing.

Bar Harbor and the other towns located on Mount Desert Island (Southwest Harbor and Northwest Harbor) are small coastal villages of the prettiest kind. From there you can go whale-watching and take other tours. Strolling through the stores is as relaxing as having lunch or dinner by the water.
